I am married to a loving, hard-working man who<i> makes me laugh</i> and I thought it would be a great opportunity to remind him of how much <b><i>I love him</i></b>.<br />
<div><br />
</div><div>Being a girl who absolutely <i>adores</i> dry-erase boards and writing out my to-do lists (my mommy brain just can't keep all the info tucked away in my noggin), I decided that I'd do a similar project for my list of chores while I was at it. </div><div><br />
</div><div>So I made a trip over to the good ol' Dollar Tree and picked up a couple of cheap-y frames...</div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTHWdntCZitrwzoTV9bYHhmXd8LfHJcnqXJQCBDyIAkQUxGc6J5aaU4VWbSDKl3VefXMlimcVUSlyyYFs0KNOGByC7X1_hwTeRTGoJVWLxuzRoecty_waHiZ5zcGd7YlGCv_C2KFugyvE/s1600/IMG_6239.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTHWdntCZitrwzoTV9bYHhmXd8LfHJcnqXJQCBDyIAkQUxGc6J5aaU4VWbSDKl3VefXMlimcVUSlyyYFs0KNOGByC7X1_hwTeRTGoJVWLxuzRoecty_waHiZ5zcGd7YlGCv_C2KFugyvE/s320/IMG_6239.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimRgkr1sYuOd9bxQaYM4cPfEFnmyfaj_Hv2-xiMn0OEG_3bexZJms8e3x7J-HvBhBbHVzRwoYNi_sMlnGFJpdPvWOGBUl49BBwtTqcZu-qckyG9qfQ_KNERsZsNVjAgitaXmBGU1Qtn5o/s1600/IMG_7024.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimRgkr1sYuOd9bxQaYM4cPfEFnmyfaj_Hv2-xiMn0OEG_3bexZJms8e3x7J-HvBhBbHVzRwoYNi_sMlnGFJpdPvWOGBUl49BBwtTqcZu-qckyG9qfQ_KNERsZsNVjAgitaXmBGU1Qtn5o/s640/IMG_7024.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>We started out by coloring on coffee filters with markers. It was fun to color on something with a different shape and texture than regular paper...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbNKczpCr5-ZM_YGgTyTv7xJSx2Fuo-5Pu1ZTBDsytXWfDrPaJZ1oOhiju20SNayes2JpVlTwb0WfzjtGZz57vTlwhntcy66LaWwDioAiTFnArrKTj7QbV5gGMAMMJ905JawghzK1p0VA/s1600/IMG_7032.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbNKczpCr5-ZM_YGgTyTv7xJSx2Fuo-5Pu1ZTBDsytXWfDrPaJZ1oOhiju20SNayes2JpVlTwb0WfzjtGZz57vTlwhntcy66LaWwDioAiTFnArrKTj7QbV5gGMAMMJ905JawghzK1p0VA/s640/IMG_7032.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Next, I gave Elijah a cup of water and a paintbrush and let him "paint" over this drawings. He was amazed as the ink bled across the coffee filters and he kept informing me that his drawings were "thirsty"...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKXjQyKBCPPku3F5Pn3iGEztEC-WQWUYOYmdm9eRoMlav725WmOFyG6B0xvJs_DJVxxgQbP06grIL-un-PxWcE6W6pmTdKna_PWVF7f4z6oBbjbbqZfxmRREzlbPohtki_kV_0ZcyVys4/s1600/IMG_7038.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKXjQyKBCPPku3F5Pn3iGEztEC-WQWUYOYmdm9eRoMlav725WmOFyG6B0xvJs_DJVxxgQbP06grIL-un-PxWcE6W6pmTdKna_PWVF7f4z6oBbjbbqZfxmRREzlbPohtki_kV_0ZcyVys4/s640/IMG_7038.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Once he was finished, we laid them out to dry. I am impatient, so after a few minutes, I sped up the process by pulling out my handy-dandy hair dryer...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6sEFB0KaFYV4AxoGM2FJ1GSk_PjWbnDIYuZcL-QjTYBAfSDyW8MLc55RoDxPlJsoIZTPQq7lT-FFASkWXSjRIwuEcRqNd8xRAp8q8gOB-6WKeYXBgolMX_7z8hIqLbxilfLFhlPVm25s/s1600/IMG_7044.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6sEFB0KaFYV4AxoGM2FJ1GSk_PjWbnDIYuZcL-QjTYBAfSDyW8MLc55RoDxPlJsoIZTPQq7lT-FFASkWXSjRIwuEcRqNd8xRAp8q8gOB-6WKeYXBgolMX_7z8hIqLbxilfLFhlPVm25s/s640/IMG_7044.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
When the filters were all dry, I cut heart shapes out of them and, using double-sided tape, adhered the hearts to little cards I made out of red card stock...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEineQAzxDNuC6LKcXVClQuVBRjzFh3WJZiBdlCS-Uhnpmc09kLVaeJIwlFYdB6ZYvFpZNPM2LliSO6OWXv3EwTQx4GXXln80PTIzHFwzS9hknbhXcZQQSEC_oQDeXl1nu6AZV8oQE6_oy8/s1600/IMG_7048.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEineQAzxDNuC6LKcXVClQuVBRjzFh3WJZiBdlCS-Uhnpmc09kLVaeJIwlFYdB6ZYvFpZNPM2LliSO6OWXv3EwTQx4GXXln80PTIzHFwzS9hknbhXcZQQSEC_oQDeXl1nu6AZV8oQE6_oy8/s640/IMG_7048.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Elijah had fun deciding which cards would go to which friends and what flavor lollipop would go inside...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEtLi-wJKDjEoyDCffJgwfsANObDdkFKP8C6IAr16Glrjah4Q5z1m4ia4Wxe1Fo0F1GTIXS0GE4k7aWJ2Bct7SG2pCZBP9uzO0-rSwoV5D8_dTLS0HzyqF10BaDQM8PpqT_NjEZPz2-i0/s1600/IMG_7051.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEtLi-wJKDjEoyDCffJgwfsANObDdkFKP8C6IAr16Glrjah4Q5z1m4ia4Wxe1Fo0F1GTIXS0GE4k7aWJ2Bct7SG2pCZBP9uzO0-rSwoV5D8_dTLS0HzyqF10BaDQM8PpqT_NjEZPz2-i0/s640/IMG_7051.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
He also had fun cheesing it up for the camera ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDw5w8P0zNaVm9DX0lDZdm6unF5_urNIU7Z3won3rwC9dVuZyQJgc4cRMeHLEOSbNI98r5Hycwd5CVHY9CWFbyPSBaHGPplyquOHFAuEhdewwIXEX4yO4WZ5XY-5VHGOA9_tGDOuJCvwY/s1600/IMG_7057.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDw5w8P0zNaVm9DX0lDZdm6unF5_urNIU7Z3won3rwC9dVuZyQJgc4cRMeHLEOSbNI98r5Hycwd5CVHY9CWFbyPSBaHGPplyquOHFAuEhdewwIXEX4yO4WZ5XY-5VHGOA9_tGDOuJCvwY/s640/IMG_7057.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><br />
I helped him write the names of his loved-ones on the cards which was a perfect opportunity to go over his lower-case letters...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJHN1ehYOi3o3o9fMChzbwWZjb_jW2rZkpcvg6Vn8EoYbmatdtMVHiJP1KxUi0gYqJRTbcABNXS9YEaXjFuG_l3kLRmUReVyKkywmzaSYTvZkybX_b-z8e7yw7Upsa8p4avg2HdIX0K68/s1600/IMG_7058.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJHN1ehYOi3o3o9fMChzbwWZjb_jW2rZkpcvg6Vn8EoYbmatdtMVHiJP1KxUi0gYqJRTbcABNXS9YEaXjFuG_l3kLRmUReVyKkywmzaSYTvZkybX_b-z8e7yw7Upsa8p4avg2HdIX0K68/s640/IMG_7058.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />

And of course, we enjoyed some sweetness of our own afterwards!<br />

Many people have come in and out of my life but true friends... the ones that you can always count on... the ones that you would do anything for... those kind of friends are hard to come by. Thankfully, the Lord has blessed me with a few of these friends. Let me introduce you to a couple of them....<br />
<div><br />
</div><div>I met Jared's family when I was 10 years old (15 years ago). During that time, Jared and I didn't speak much. I was actually good friends with his sister and we were merely acquaintances at best. Five years later, I started my first job at Chick-Fil-A where Jared was hired shortly after. As we worked alongside each other, a friendship grew. He became my <i>best friend</i>. We went to homecoming together, cried on each others shoulders (<i>don't tell him I told you!</i>), sought relationship advice from each other, you know... all the stuff that best friends do. He was like a brother to me. To this day, my mom still refers to him as her son...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQVqb35AjbXvvYNUIVW1ZIawQVOTl8taB4vKrtQNrf0T4s18eayAeCi5CdtcFRZSYQQCTv787yAT_ekrXrfi6kGCaRqJF4utXW2l4mxaURiJHKQ3eF5qbfSHp8cflmzRlt8Q2INxE9dxc/s1600/15538_1060009357634_1747922820_111755_6610925_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQVqb35AjbXvvYNUIVW1ZIawQVOTl8taB4vKrtQNrf0T4s18eayAeCi5CdtcFRZSYQQCTv787yAT_ekrXrfi6kGCaRqJF4utXW2l4mxaURiJHKQ3eF5qbfSHp8cflmzRlt8Q2INxE9dxc/s640/15538_1060009357634_1747922820_111755_6610925_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div>A couple of years later, we started to get to know the new girl at Chick-Fil-A... Whitney. I can't say that we hit it off right away as our first impressions of each other weren't the best (lol... <i>silly young girls</i>) but over time, I got to know her and realized she was a friend worth having. It was easy to by myself around her... she was honest and genuine. With Whitney, what you saw was what you got and I loved that about her. There was nothing fake about Whit and she cherished loyalty as I did. Once we became friends, I could almost always be found at her house. There were late night drives with windows down and music blaring, mud fights during rain storms, Dance Dance Revolution until 6 am, all sorts of fun craziness... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEncGx63Yki8hFdAZyCMStbs0ZE5nmKiQlmEJeJZcP29_S0bHoeQdOGZO55mEx-GxiVz9Hqvi2NT__fg1hHG5-8-N5ClLzCe_J18VtifdTFlYOQi4EL5iewnHz9WdR-9b5qutxNl-7T6c/s1600/15538_1060007357584_1747922820_111742_1261610_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEncGx63Yki8hFdAZyCMStbs0ZE5nmKiQlmEJeJZcP29_S0bHoeQdOGZO55mEx-GxiVz9Hqvi2NT__fg1hHG5-8-N5ClLzCe_J18VtifdTFlYOQi4EL5iewnHz9WdR-9b5qutxNl-7T6c/s640/15538_1060007357584_1747922820_111742_1261610_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div>As high school came to a close, we had our tight circle of friends that did everything together. A few months after graduation, Jared informed us that he had enlisted in the Marine Corps. Talk about a mixture of emotions! How could my heart be filled with so much pride and sadness at the same time? After that, there were a lot of changes... people moved away and our times of hanging out were few and far between. I eventually found my forever, settled down and got married to the greatest man and friend I could ever dream of having... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_JXEvzi-BUm95bFZ7VwdlNWold_AEDrxf-1PODrKivEIJkjtgMDOKuN_wYoIKQJ0cgeh6qQcQTXoVvgha-lmFkL_ZZ3JDygprNJGb4XWd-tZ5Cd7mDemeGXgqWqWbWsH41vxioAtBHG0/s1600/IMG_6263.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_JXEvzi-BUm95bFZ7VwdlNWold_AEDrxf-1PODrKivEIJkjtgMDOKuN_wYoIKQJ0cgeh6qQcQTXoVvgha-lmFkL_ZZ3JDygprNJGb4XWd-tZ5Cd7mDemeGXgqWqWbWsH41vxioAtBHG0/s640/IMG_6263.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><div>Around the same time that I got married, Jared and Whitney started dating. We all kept in touch and spent time together when time allowed. This past June (5 years later) Jared finally popped the question and she said <i><b>YES!!!</b></i> It was only a matter of days before they were hanging out at our house and I was asked to be a bridesmaid in their Tennessee wedding. I was so excited... not only was I going to be a part of my best friends' most important day, but I was going to be at their home in Tennessee during the fall to see the leaves change (<i>a first for me</i>)!</div><div><br />
</div><div>So, last Tuesday, Cliff and I packed up the car and headed up for a 5-day trip in the <i>beautiful</i> Smokey Mountains. It was such a joy to be there to help out and use my gifts of organization to ease the stressed-out bride's nerves. Caffeine and I became great friends as there was<i> VERY</i> little sleep involved. But we had a <b><i>BLAST!!! </i></b></div><div><br />
</div><div>Their beautiful country wedding was held on Friday, November 11, 2011 (11-11-11) with 5 former Marines (as well as others who served in the U.S. military) in attendance as they honored our country's veterans. It was a <i>magical day</i> and I was so blessed to be a part of it...</div><div><br />

So here's what's been happening in our happy little world (brace yourself for photo overload!)...<br />
<br />
October was the start of my most favorite season... cool air, pumpkin foods and drinks, football games, plenty of fun festivities, and the anticipation that comes with knowing Christmas is <i>right around the corner</i>, never ceases to bring me joy. We kicked things off with what is becoming a beloved tradition... visiting <a href="http://sweetfieldsfarm.com/">Sweetfields Farm</a> with great friends for a fun day out with the kids.<br />

Last night was <i>by far</i> the most exciting. After spending 4 YEARS trying to convince my husband that having a furball around the house would be a great thing, he FINALLY caved!!! We surprised Elijah by adopting the<i> sweetest</i> dog. It took Sadie no time at all to become a part of the family...<br />

(Sorry for that!) So, I figured today I would share with you my most recent project... a baby ragtime quilt, requested by my lovely friend, <a href="http://www.janinemariemidkiff.blogspot.com/">Janine</a>, for her newborn photoshoots. I am <i><b>sew in love</b></i>!!!! (And apparently, <i>extremely</i> <i>cheesy</i>.)<br />

</div><div>Once I finish a project, I usually find that the excitement is over and I don't want to do it over again. The joy for me is in creating and hashing out new ideas. But I<i> love</i> picking out fabrics and the way the fabric feels in my hands as I feed it through the machine. Not to mention the satisfaction I feel once it's done and I can see all the little pieces fit so perfectly together. Making these quilts is quickly becoming my favorite pastime and is something I enjoy doing over and over and over again. </div><div><br />

Shortly after we began attending, I was introduced to a ministry there called <a href="http://hopealive2010.com/">HopeAlive2010</a> that ministered to the people of Swaziland, Africa. The more I learned about what they were doing and what God was doing through them, the more I felt a burden on my heart and a desire to be involved. Since that time over a year ago, my husband and I have been <i>so blessed</i> by the opportunities that the Lord has given us to be involved. The proud wife in me, can't help but brag on my husband.... check out their new website, created by my talented hunk: <a href="http://HopeAlive268.com/">HopeAlive268.com</a>! <i>ANYWAY</i>... on to the point. This past weekend, one of those opportunities arose as our church put together a sew day, inviting ladies to come enjoy some fellowship as we sewed pillowcase dresses for girls and shorts for boys. These items will be taken to Swaziland next month and given to the Siteki orphans we support. The crafter in me <i>fell in love</i>. My excitement lead to a silly little dance (<i>yes, there were witnesses</i>) as I held in my hands the first dress I ever made... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRWg2CJPsc-HXebl8QsMG9wygZzIdiru4U85YVjpvPCXwCctuDxZK85TZokFKRdLlRF_b_DXAwv-6irlVQNcyI86ZButCfoRlfAqqzxW4LPLt48IW-25EnvE3CY79wYXRTYkP3AhZ7dqM/s1600/Picnik+collage1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRWg2CJPsc-HXebl8QsMG9wygZzIdiru4U85YVjpvPCXwCctuDxZK85TZokFKRdLlRF_b_DXAwv-6irlVQNcyI86ZButCfoRlfAqqzxW4LPLt48IW-25EnvE3CY79wYXRTYkP3AhZ7dqM/s640/Picnik+collage1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I couldn't stop at just one. I've had a few people ask me for the recipe, so I thought it was about time I visit ol' Blogland (I know, I'm long overdue) and share it with all of you. So here it is. My version of a raspberry almond torte...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoM7zDKJdRzZShTOP0a5YfknE3bYLAU8zQW7PLTJlp1Tpae_eJHIq5yhzHCo8sFTAOuGnNL1v_0cxmKm7M83X-K4ldA5eKrSdyr4lxXoame5F4abKY0cVZ6NNH8Mp5EW4IkNjyuTQUwdU/s1600/IMG_4764.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoM7zDKJdRzZShTOP0a5YfknE3bYLAU8zQW7PLTJlp1Tpae_eJHIq5yhzHCo8sFTAOuGnNL1v_0cxmKm7M83X-K4ldA5eKrSdyr4lxXoame5F4abKY0cVZ6NNH8Mp5EW4IkNjyuTQUwdU/s400/IMG_4764.jpg" width="303" /></a></div>Doesn't it look delicious? Mmmm....<br />
<br />
I threw this together mixing two different recipes (Pillsbury's Raspberry & Toasted Almond Torte recipe which I could not find online but it was on the side of the box of cake mix and <a href="http://www.bakerella.com/">Bakerella's</a> <a href="http://www.bakerella.com/super-eazy-no-fuss-just-fizzy/">Simple Sprite Cake</a>) and making it my own.<br />
<br />
Here's what you'll need:<br />
<br />
<b>Cake</b><br />
1 pkg white cake mix<br />
4 eggs<br />
3/4 cup vegetable oil<br />
1 pkg vanilla pudding mix<br />
8 oz can of Sprite<br />
1/4 teaspoon almond extract<br />
1/2 cup slivered almonds, chopped, toasted<br />
<br />
<b>Frosting</b><br />
1 can vanilla frosting<br />
1/2 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed<br />
1/2 teaspoon almond extract<br />
<br />
<b>Topping</b><br />
2/3 cup black raspberry preserves<br />
<br />
<b>Garnish</b><br />
2 tablespoons slivered almonds, toasted<br />
<br />
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees<br />
2. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans<br />
3. Mix cake ingredients on low until combined, then increase speed to medium and mix for about 2 minutes.<br />
4. Pour batter into pans and bake for 28-32 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.<br />
5. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely.<br />
6. In a large bowl, gently stir frosting ingredients until well blended. Set aside.<br />
7. To assemble cake, place one layer on the serving plate. Spread 1/3 cup of frosting then 1/3 cup of raspberry preserves. Top with remaining cake layer. Spread frosting over the entire cake. Use remaining raspberry preserves to cover the top in a circle (I left about an inch of icing along the sides). Garnish the outsides of the circle with toasted almonds. Store in refrigerator.<br />
8. Enjoy!<br />
<br />

After waking up a little earlier than usual, Elijah and I joined our friends <a href="http://janinemariemidkiff.blogspot.com/">Janine</a> and Lennon (and later, our new friend Jamie) for our first beach trip of the season. While the boys played and bonded in the back seat...<br />

...Janine and I smiled away, amazed by our growing sweeties. And of course, chatted away about mommy things.<br />
<br />
The beach greeted us with the blue skies and warm sunshine we've been longing for. It wasn't long before we were all giggling and soaking up the day.<br />

But this morning, we decided to change things up a bit. Nothing super exciting, really. Elijah got a new train set for his birthday and was so happy and content playing with it...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFL9OSdnCSHsjYuT-TVKv4qVutq1RI-fb1chUXsD129dkIzC3AtMbzAUOdaQaaIuwh5vgHSWl68Hh7FBHiSkW0Eza_BPdus-0D5i_9QGE0CYE4NgVxpaketzw8mAh7Avhz2tPa57qgFJ4/s1600/IMG_2343.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFL9OSdnCSHsjYuT-TVKv4qVutq1RI-fb1chUXsD129dkIzC3AtMbzAUOdaQaaIuwh5vgHSWl68Hh7FBHiSkW0Eza_BPdus-0D5i_9QGE0CYE4NgVxpaketzw8mAh7Avhz2tPa57qgFJ4/s640/IMG_2343.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
So, I decided to skip out on the normal routine and take advantage of his rare mood to get a start on my spring cleaning. My mess of a closet is finally tidy again and the piles and piles of clothes I had shoved in every nook and cranny... some too big, some too small... are now all neatly stored away. Which brings me to my new favorite thing... space saver bags!<br />
<br />
Bag #1: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdNkdqcWWiSk21I_woelKHc8V98zmfUVUhG7qS0hha54o6bHujrtxBrynirtNQAOqQcQbyyPxaAL98I46E2KteyGwkF6vt8_iVqwl7gFO13hl3R_S70SeXwDM7_WOxrYQ_H9naKVZsSeQ/s1600/bag1collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdNkdqcWWiSk21I_woelKHc8V98zmfUVUhG7qS0hha54o6bHujrtxBrynirtNQAOqQcQbyyPxaAL98I46E2KteyGwkF6vt8_iVqwl7gFO13hl3R_S70SeXwDM7_WOxrYQ_H9naKVZsSeQ/s640/bag1collage.jpg" width="466" /></a></div>And bag #2 (In the same bin):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUrf_TJoZ4thGup_Ka-x2Xbcmdv27UTT-6j9huqEIXBNgdJlBrUgCIRd-H-nM2sNiWZ1_APnuAd_lc68lFFaIW42zwzdN4cW60A99hHbbLF95EgtouAFPyWckJGpPMbUYouDFmXHkkEb0/s1600/bag2collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUrf_TJoZ4thGup_Ka-x2Xbcmdv27UTT-6j9huqEIXBNgdJlBrUgCIRd-H-nM2sNiWZ1_APnuAd_lc68lFFaIW42zwzdN4cW60A99hHbbLF95EgtouAFPyWckJGpPMbUYouDFmXHkkEb0/s640/bag2collage.jpg" width="490" /></a></div><br />

I have a two year old!!!), Saturday proved to be even more fun. We met our family and a few close friends at the Park for some late morning fun...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center; width: 480px;"><embed height="360" src="http://w21.photobucket.com/pbwidget.swf?pbwurl=http%3A%2F%2Fw21.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb271%2Fdaniellerd%2F195ff5d6.pbw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" wmode="transparent"></embed><a href="http://photobucket.com/slideshows" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/slideshows/btn.gif" style="border-width: 0; float: left;" /></a><a href="http://s21.photobucket.com/albums/b271/daniellerd/?action=view&current=195ff5d6.pbw" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/slideshows/btn_viewallimages.gif" style="border-width: 0; float: left;" /></a></div><br />
<br />
After all the bubbles, cake and smiles came to a close, Elijah headed home with his Mimi and Papa for a sleep over, while Mommy and Daddy headed home to prepare for an evening out. Before heading to my favorite restaurant (Roy's) for some Hawaiian fusion cuisine, we made a stop at Wal-Mart where Cliff decided to buy me a new iPod (to replace the one I accidentally smashed)...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8XOlGKeWZA4Z4pNsJH2vn-kxaExHukcbpRWcneHNUg06apmDQf90diRjXoPB63F7GyWSx8erWKN4WnWLbmQYMLopGikWYYn76bW0DarQk97Z3IvECrs_Rwr8TqkrKJUEySjagUHoYBqQ/s1600/IMG_2304.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="430" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8XOlGKeWZA4Z4pNsJH2vn-kxaExHukcbpRWcneHNUg06apmDQf90diRjXoPB63F7GyWSx8erWKN4WnWLbmQYMLopGikWYYn76bW0DarQk97Z3IvECrs_Rwr8TqkrKJUEySjagUHoYBqQ/s640/IMG_2304.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Isn't it so cute? I can't wait to use it at the gym! It even has a clip on the back to attach to my clothing and has some little thing-a-majig that counts your calories with each step you take (they call it a pedometer, but I prefer the term "thing-a-majig"). Now if I can just get by without loosing the little thing, everything will be <i>super!</i> ;)<br />
<br />
This morning lead us to church where I was surrounded by smiling faces from the people I've come to love so much. Then my sweet friend Nicole and I spent the afternoon pampering ourselves with pedicures and doing a little shopping...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVTz7vLHVbiQY5Z9bdGkQjOHvvQ0ICeEFPSNdOMCoxGbfuxGYzVHIVmJYRvMFJTJqOuwFlIZt-tKhFaCCnMPlKKoeiGmGD-kkYyPOvslEUdS-zwTHmIoivCV96TyZZbuyx112gMKukQyc/s1600/nicole_collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="380" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVTz7vLHVbiQY5Z9bdGkQjOHvvQ0ICeEFPSNdOMCoxGbfuxGYzVHIVmJYRvMFJTJqOuwFlIZt-tKhFaCCnMPlKKoeiGmGD-kkYyPOvslEUdS-zwTHmIoivCV96TyZZbuyx112gMKukQyc/s640/nicole_collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
My parents invited us over for dinner where we were treated to a delicious steak dinner and banana cake. Yum! Then it was back home for some wrestling and tickle fights with my favorite boys. Today was a beautiful day to celebrate my 25 years of life. I am so thankful for all the family and friends that I have been blessed with. They make my life so much sweeter.<br />
<br />
<b>Things I'm thankful for:</b><br />
1. Birthday celebrations<br />
2. The gift of life<br />
3. Pedicures (I can finally stop hiding my feet!)<br />
4. Having such a happy son<br />
5. My church family<br />
<br />
<b>Things I'm looking forward to:</b><br />
1. Dinner on Saturday. We're getting a sitter (a big thank you to the Lawrences!) and enjoying a dinner out with both sides of the family to celebrate my birthday (this weekend was a little full). And there will be sushi :)<br />
2. Having breakfast with my Daddy one day this week<br />
3. Spending some quality time with my mother and sister tomorrow night<br />
4. Kayaking with my sister Saturday morning<br />
5. Play group (as usual)<br />
<br />
<b>Things that made me smile this week:</b><br />
1. I recorded Elijah singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and "The Itsy, Bitsy Spider" all by himself. <br />
2. Having some much-needed girl time today<br />
3. Hearing Elijah speak in full sentences<br />
<br />
<b>Current like:</b><br />
Days spent outside in the warm sunshine.<br />
<br />
<b>Current dislike:</b><br />
The disorganized mess that is my house.<br />
<br />
<b>Something I need to work on:</b><br />
My horrible eating habits. Tomorrow starts the calorie counting.<br />
<br />
<b>Favorite quote:</b><br />
"Our imaginations were fashioned like wicks to be ignited by the fire of fresh revelation, dripping with wax that God can imprint with His endless signatures." -Beth Moore<br />
<br />
<b>Scripture:</b><br />
"For you formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well." -Psalm 139:13-14<br />
<br />
Yours Truly,<br />

Two Years Of Big Smiles And Happy HeartsToday was the beginning of what is expected to be a <i>great</i> weekend. And for good reasons. Aside from the fact that <i>yours truly</i> will soon be celebrating her 25th birthday, today held a <i>special</i> significance. Today was a day of thanksgiving. A day of reflection. A day of love. A day of pure joy. Because on this day <i>2 years ago</i>, God blessed this world with the life of my precious son. <br />
<br />
The day was filled with quality time with grandparents, soaking up some sunshine, cuddling on the couch while watching Eli's favorite shows, and of course... eating plenty of cake!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_jukD1lPgsEDjJ47pgD-3hIh-DVPZ2zWI1nIhXHuvdSa3brROpe1zCz8oqm7W8iDuxVnF3diAKOxxmOqnfaGYe0t2nzDJRfTiEKP-gZ1tZ7kj0sJsBllPQF-cxVGr8Ugzdf5KbNKsHZg/s1600/cake+collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_jukD1lPgsEDjJ47pgD-3hIh-DVPZ2zWI1nIhXHuvdSa3brROpe1zCz8oqm7W8iDuxVnF3diAKOxxmOqnfaGYe0t2nzDJRfTiEKP-gZ1tZ7kj0sJsBllPQF-cxVGr8Ugzdf5KbNKsHZg/s640/cake+collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
My heart melted as my growing boy's eyes lit up to "Happy Birthday" songs. He didn't hesitate to dive face-first into his own special cake. <br />
<br />
Following tradition, dessert lead to opening a few presents and play time...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNNit9oWsz4_Ta6IjGmnHKlZRMUbAoclQ9Y8n5gMcrhgiQFKwWsDBfQZRV0ayXAKkpugmfjpafpR3r2G3O4JMkJKtfhyfMaetopl4hDWZM4EHzTuSG96lZLw7jge-Ygtp2tae0bnxiW9Y/s1600/presents+collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNNit9oWsz4_Ta6IjGmnHKlZRMUbAoclQ9Y8n5gMcrhgiQFKwWsDBfQZRV0ayXAKkpugmfjpafpR3r2G3O4JMkJKtfhyfMaetopl4hDWZM4EHzTuSG96lZLw7jge-Ygtp2tae0bnxiW9Y/s640/presents+collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div> <br />
Tomorrow, the festivities will continue as we meet up with family and friends at the park. With all the excitement, I just couldn't resist a little crafting to make the day extra-special...<br />

While tired mommies sipped on coffee, and smiling toddlers indulged in various sweets, we took some time to celebrate Valentine's Day with the little ones we love so much. And since Elijah's birthday is Friday, we also celebrated the birth of my <i>adorable son..</i>. <div><br />

<br />
Play group this morning was spent at the park, taking advantage of our glorious 75 degree Florida weather...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBpqXXinAr5PaWoLnSKOGnmdx9_fqpNokFnj4jahC-OX_HdRtUB38NHPPdWTlP2TXC7ipjN_jTWWHA_3wU2peJrk-m8Ib2B3ZXtG6uo96qMMZ5d4fUtHBeALUDC-jtSRMqAvbS5eQ9dFA/s1600/Picnikcollage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBpqXXinAr5PaWoLnSKOGnmdx9_fqpNokFnj4jahC-OX_HdRtUB38NHPPdWTlP2TXC7ipjN_jTWWHA_3wU2peJrk-m8Ib2B3ZXtG6uo96qMMZ5d4fUtHBeALUDC-jtSRMqAvbS5eQ9dFA/s640/Picnikcollage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Complete with munchkins for our little munchkins (one for each hand!)...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZhj7knPHMWIDQwZZcbZ5R2SBp0ETRyA5KBvdeTT0alrZcYcGIVjdRCTW-7wKM60vx-HiF8MOCZR59DR2eZIGO0aYszPyCXUhdZSFHqneHTG6QA8yU72MJX9KKOj8zThKiIWJ2GseIi64/s1600/munchkinscollage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZhj7knPHMWIDQwZZcbZ5R2SBp0ETRyA5KBvdeTT0alrZcYcGIVjdRCTW-7wKM60vx-HiF8MOCZR59DR2eZIGO0aYszPyCXUhdZSFHqneHTG6QA8yU72MJX9KKOj8zThKiIWJ2GseIi64/s640/munchkinscollage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />

2. I get measured every month at my gym. In the three months that I've been a member, I've lost three inches in my waist and three inches in my hips. While my weight hasn't changed much, it feels so good to see my hard work paying off! :)<br />
3. It took Elijah merely minutes to fall asleep tonight. Hooray!!!!!<br />
<br />

<br />
<b>Something I need to work on</b>:<br />
Thinking before I speak. I'm getting better at handling my diarrhea-of-the-mouth, but I still have a long way to go!<br />
<br />
<b>Scripture Verse:</b><br />
"A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." - Proverbs 16:9Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04462403086015654240noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3394789961296228979.post-25518658165474721282011-01-24T10:29:00.000-05:002011-01-24T10:29:52.274-05:00Continue OnA while back, while I was going through one of the rough stages that life has thrown my way, a good friend of mine encouraged me greatly with a poem that someone had used to encourage her. I came across that poem again, and today I would like to pass it along to you. If you are a wife or mother... be encouraged...<br />
<br />
<b><u>Continue On</u></b><br />
<br />
A woman once fretted over the usefulness of her life. She feared she was wasting her potential being a devoted wife and mother. She wondered if the time and energy invested in her husband and children would make a difference<br />
<br />
At times she got discouraged because so much of what she did seemed to go unnoticed and unappreciated. "Is it worth it?" she often wondered. "Is there something better that I could be doing with my time?"<br />
<br />
It was during one of these moments of questioning that she heard the still small voice of her heavenly Father speak to her heart. "You are a wife and mother because that is what I have called you to be. Much of what you do is hidden from the public eye. But I notice. Most of what you give is done without remuneration. But I am your reward.<br />
<br />
"Your husband cannot be the man I have called him to be without your support. Your influence upon him is greater than you think and more powerful than you will ever know. I bless him through your service and honor him through your love. Your children are precious to me. Even more precious than they are to you. I have entrusted them to your care to raise for me. What you invest in them is an offering to me.<br />
<br />
"You may never be in the public spotlight. But your obedience shines as a bright light before me. Continue on.<br />
<br />
"Remember you are my servant. Do all to please me."<br />

Elijah... my sweet boy... I cherish our time together :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04462403086015654240noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3394789961296228979.post-54587503015695834122011-01-07T12:51:00.000-05:002011-01-07T12:51:04.117-05:00Mother Is My OccupationWhen I first became a mother, I struggled with feeling inadequate as a woman. Coming from a family of inspirational, hard-working women (who at times, were the family bread winners), I felt like staying at home was a waste of my abilities. I also felt like the working women I knew (or the new women I'd meet) would look down their noses at me when they found out I was staying at home. Even now, it's always the same conversation, "What do you do for a living Danielle?"... "I'm a stay-at-home-mom"... "Oh.... how nice." I felt like people were judging me, assuming that I was a loser who was just milking the system... just like I used to judge people that didn't have stable jobs. My pride would get the best of me, and many evenings I would be in tears as I questioned my "calling." I caved into believing that the world's definition of "success" was correct, and that not having a big "successful" career automatically made me a failure.<br />
<br />
Over time, God continued to work on me and helped me to see things from His perspective. My husband and I both knew that this was the life God was calling us to. We made the decision before Elijah was born that I would stay home and raise our son. We decided that I would be the one to teach him the important things... how to walk, how to talk, how to be polite and respectful, who Jesus is, and everything in between. We decided that I would be the one to kiss every boo boo, share every smile, and witness every one of his firsts instead of paying someone else who wouldn't appreciate those special moments to rob them from me. <br />
<br />
Now, almost two years later, I am beginning to reap the seeds I have sown. My heart fills with pride with every "please" and "thank-you" that escape the lips of my darling boy. I have a good child. I have a son that is obedient (well, most of the time, lol. We're all works in progress!). I have a son that is excited about learning new things. I have a son that can count to 10 and name most of his letters and colors. I have a son that can name all the different parts of the guitar...<br />

For this, I am thankful.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">As a side note, I wanted to introduce you to one of my favorite teaching tools. All kids love T.V., but as a mother, I'm not always fond of my little one wasting the day away in front of the television. That being said, I do allow Elijah to watch some of his favorite shows. One of these shows in particular, is a favorite of mine too...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTgu1lUFPfvZ0WvXH1ul24L563hYpr0niEfvk6NGps_gffhwMbT-o2T_EBVcOBZY758ihlehi1Y3h3e0LWJ9OopdWUkM3wyhFW1qBDWGXs_UWa9fPKLzCZLp5IO0uv5yQa_jh33t1JykM/s1600/IMG_1154.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTgu1lUFPfvZ0WvXH1ul24L563hYpr0niEfvk6NGps_gffhwMbT-o2T_EBVcOBZY758ihlehi1Y3h3e0LWJ9OopdWUkM3wyhFW1qBDWGXs_UWa9fPKLzCZLp5IO0uv5yQa_jh33t1JykM/s320/IMG_1154.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Word World teaches kids a lot about letters and building words (and it's super cute!!!). All the images in the videos are shaped out of the letters that spell out their name... for instance, the dog above is made out of his letters "D-O-G." Eli loves it! And the best part is that I got both of these videos at Target for $5 each! Yay!!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Have a beautiful day today! If you are a fellow stay at home mother, stand tall in knowing that what you do is important and that you are making a difference in this world. And when you have days that you don't feel so proud, know that I am proud of you :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
